A Family for God's Glory

Our desire as Witney Community Church, is that through our life and community, everyone would see how great Jesus is.

Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God 1 Corinthians 10:31b
As a Family for God's Glory, we believe that there are aspects of our life together that are good for us and good for those we live with and share life with in our communities. We seek to be those whose lives are rooted in God and reach out beyond our present circumstances, culture and social circles. The five values that we are seeking to live out together are:

We are a community of passionate lovers of God and followers of Jesus. We seek to worship God and enjoy him forever. The Bible, urges us ‘…whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God’ (1 Corinthians 10:31). God being glorified is what matters most. God is our number one priority.

We are a community living life out of the eternal truth of God’s word, the Bible. We seek to demonstrate what it looks like to live as a people of blessing & favour in the life of the Spirit. We aim to live lives worthy of the gospel irrespective of cost or commitment.

We are a community committed to actively remembering those in need. We know that we are all ‘in need’ in some way. We believe it is right for us to live as givers and receivers of compassion. And to give compassion abundantly.

We are called to be a people who join in with the mission of God; pushing back boundaries, and taking the great commission seriously to reach out to people and ‘make them disciples of Jesus’. As a missional community we want to see the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) being fulfilled.

We are called, in everything, to be a people who are in relationship with God and reliant on His almighty power and sovereign work. In prayer we draw near to God and become aware of his presence with us. By his grace we also receive revelation, knowledge, hope, strength, provision, forgiveness, deliverance, fruitfulness, unity, direction, confidence and power.

The Mission

We are disciples learning to follow Jesus more readily and closely and we are committed to helping and encouraging others to follow Jesus.
All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:18-20

We are disciples learning to follow Jesus more readily and closely and we are committed to helping and encouraging others to follow Jesus. In doing this, we have planted other churches in the county, set up schools, and travelled throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and North America to encourage and equip churches.

Our church is a member of the Evangelical Alliance and part of the Salt & Light family of churches.

Our History

Witney Community Church began as a community of believers at Merryfield House.

Witney Community Church began in the 1970s as the church at Merryfield House. This was a gathering of families and individuals convinced that there was more to life and faith than they had experienced. They were filled afresh with God’s Holy Spirit and sought to live their lives in accordance with what they read in the Bible.
